Gallery member Steve Wolfe photographed this male Red-breasted Nuthatch in October 2010 and posted it to our
U.S. and Canada Gallery in December 2012. He found the bird at Highridge Park, a small city park in Palos Verdes, located in southwestern Los Angeles County, California.
Red-breasted Nuthatch, a species of northern woods and western mountains, irrupted south across the United States in the winter of 2012-13.
See eBird’s current distribution map for Red-breasted Nuthatch. Steve used a Canon 7D and a 500mm f4 IS L lens. See more of his photos on his
website.
